A sustainable organization is one that is efficient, effective, meets its goals, and is continuously pursuing innovation. It is also scalable to accommodate growth and innovation initiatives as they arise. Research identifies six critical elements of sustainability: 1. Understanding a collaborative mode of work: self-responsibility and accountability for understanding and aligning to cultural and performance values, as well as industry, multi-location, and environmental needs 2. Developing community and context: sharing company direction and goals, project and team functions, and service delivery links to each other 3. Measuring progress: performance managed by monitoring deliverables versus monitoring work towards them 4. Developing social structures: facilitating communication and intra-, interpersonal relationships that enable trusting, independent, and interdependent work environments, 5. Maximizing customer relationships: developing customer relationships through support services, training, education, and joint innovation planning 6. Aligning technology enablers: providing application and networking programs to maximize efficiency of internal and external communications and service delivery |
